چکیده
A method of solving the Einstein equations with a scalar field is presented. It is applied to find higher dimensional vacuum metrics invariant under the group SO(n + 1) acting on n-dimensional spheres. PACS number: 04.50.-h

In this paper we consider the action of higher derivative gravity up to the second order terms in the scalars made from the Ricci scalar, Ricci and Riemann tensors. We use the Bach- Lanczos identity of the Weyl tensor in four dimensions and show that the solutions of 4-dimensional Einstein equations with cosmological constant term in vacuum, which are known as Einstein metrics, satisfy the fie...
متن کاملStatic Spherically Symmetric Solutions to Einstein-maxwell-dilaton Field Equations in D Dimensions
We classify the spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein Maxwell Dilation field equations in D-dimensions and find some exact solutions of the string theory at all orders of the string tension parameter. We also show the uniqueness of the black hole solutions of this theory in static axially symmetric spacetimes.
متن کاملThe (R,S)-symmetric and (R,S)-skew symmetric solutions of the pair of matrix equations A1XB1 = C1 and A2XB2 = C2
Let $Rin textbf{C}^{mtimes m}$ and $Sin textbf{C}^{ntimes n}$ be nontrivial involution matrices; i.e., $R=R^{-1}neq pm~I$ and $S=S^{-1}neq pm~I$. An $mtimes n$ complex matrix $A$ is said to be an $(R, S)$-symmetric ($(R, S)$-skew symmetric) matrix if $RAS =A$ ($ RAS =-A$). The $(R, S)$-symmetric and $(R, S)$-skew symmetric matrices have a number of special properties and widely used in eng...
متن کاملBlack Holes in Einstein - Lovelock Gravity ∗
Static, spherically symmetric solutions of the field equations for a particular dimensional continuation of general relativity with negative cosmological constant are found. In even dimensions the solution has many similarities with the Schwarzschild metric. In odd dimensions, the equations of motion are explicitly anti de-Sitter invariant, and the solution is alike in many ways to the 2+1 blac...
متن کاملFormation of a Black String in a Higher Dimensional Vacuum Gravitational Collapse AlexanderFeinstein
We present a solution to the vacuum Einstein Equations which represents a collapse of a gravitational wave in 5 dimensions. Depending on the “focal length” of the wave, the collapse results, either in a black string covered by a horizon, or in a naked singularity which can be removed. There has been recently an increasing interest in higher dimensional solutions to Einstein field equations [1]....
